Disable Chat in Taskbar

Windows 11 added a Chat to the Task bar. Luckily you can remove this easily.

Fix It with CL Debloat

  1. Download CL Debloat here.
  2. Click Downloads in your Browser (Ctrl +J will open the downloads directly) and click the “CLDebloatSetup.exe” file and follow the prompt.
  3. Once installed click the CL Debloat icon on the desktop.
  4. Under the Bloat tab, check the “Disable Chat in Taskbar” box and click Apply.

That’s it! Chat in the Taskbar will be removed.

Fix It with Windows 11 Settings

  1. Open the Windows Settings.
  2. Select Personalization.
  3. Select Taskbar.
  4. Turn off the Chat option.

The Chat icon in the Taskbar will be removed.

Fix It with Registry Editor

  1. Click on Search (or Start) of Windows and, “regedit” and select the Register Editor.
  2. In the top left of the Registry Editor navigate to the following
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\
  3. Right-click the Advanced folder, select to New and choose DWORD (32-bit) Value.
  4. Name the key “TaskbarMn” and press enter.
  5. Repeat the same steps above for this registry location as well, but name the DWORD key “HideSCAMeetNow”:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\
  6. Set the Key Value to 1.

The Chat icon in the Taskbar will be removed.

How to Restore Chat in the Taskbar with CL Debloat

Using CL Debloat you can easily undo this:

  1. Launch CL Debloat and select the Bloat Tab
  2. Uncheck the “Disable Chat in Taskbar” option and click Apply.

The Chat icon in the Taskbar will be restored.

How to restore Chat in the Taskbar Using Other Methods

Method 1: You can restore the Chat in the Taskbar directly in Windows 11 settings using the following steps:

  1. Open the Windows Settings.
  2. Select Personalization.
  3. Select Taskbar.
  4. Turn On the Chat option.

The Chat icon in the Taskbar will be restored.

Method 2: You can restore Chat with the Registry Editor as well:

  1. Click on Search (or Start) of Windows and, “regedit” and select the Register Editor.
  2. In the top left of the Registry Editor navigate to the following
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\
  3. Edit the key “TaskbarMn” and set the value to 1.
  4. Navigate to the following key:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\
  5. Edit the “HideSCAMeetNow” key and Set the Value to 0.

The Chat icon in the Taskbar will be restored.
